Lessons in Literacy contains eighteen units of work, each structured as complete literacy hour lessons, and three assessment units. It covers all of the text level fiction and poetry reading comprehension objectives of the National Literacy Strategy for year four. In addition, it includes connected components of writing composition, sentence and word level work. With the accompanying CD it is ideal for whiteboard presentation and for the easy production of worksheets

In each unit, you will find a complete lesson plan with lively activities to fulfil the NLS learning objectives, photocopiable materials including a text extract, and clearly written teaching notes. Examples of grammar, punctuation, and other language features in the text extract are fully explained and specified, giving the non-specialist primary teacher the opportunity to deliver an informed and well-paced lesson.
